November and December 2021

Nine GO-BGC floats were deployed on this SCOPE-Gradients 4 expedition to the North and Equatorial Pacific in November and December 2021. Led by Chief Scientist E. Virginia Armbrust from the University of Washington aboard the R/V Thomas G. Thompson, the expedition’s focus was “Model-Driven Investigations of Ocean Transition Zones”. The SCOPE-Gradients program is designed to test conceptual and mathematical models of biogeochemical organization across the transition zone between different ecosystems.

Float status including number of completed profiles to date is available in the Float Status Table.

Associated documentation, shipboard validation data sets (if collected), and float data sets are available on our Shipboard Calibration and Validation Datasets page.

All nine GO-BGC floats were adopted by schools from the United States, Japan, and the United Kingdom. Check out all adopted floats on the Adopt-a-Float table, photos of floats can be found on our Flickr page.
