SUMMARY:PICES 2024 Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Future of PICES: Science for Sustainability in 2030\, Honolulu\, Hawaii\, USA \nPICES has provided leadership in developing a more thorough understanding of the structure\, function\, and changes of North Pacific marine ecosystems with the support of its flagship scientific programs. We now embark on the “FUTURE” of PICES that will lead to better observations\, improved awareness of mechanisms of change\, and ultimately science for sustainability by 2030. Through our science PICES will continue to provide leadership to the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and the mission of developing “the science we need for the ocean we want”. We welcome submissions associated with the “FUTURE” of PICES\, to explore progress already made and to steer our science towards identifying gaps and setting priorities.

DESCRIPTION:The overarching theme of OceanPredict ’24 will be “Advancing ocean prediction science for societal benefits” to highlight the central role played by ocean prediction in the UN Ocean Decade goals. Held in Paris\, France\, the symposium will invite ocean and atmospheric scientists\, observation specialists\, industry representatives\, service providers\, governments\, and users of ocean data & products from across the international operational oceanography community to engage in science sessions\, exhibitions and discussions to explore and define the direction of operational oceanography. \nThe symposium will seek to \n\n\nAccelerate the evolution of operational oceanography as a key component of Earth System Modeling; \n\n\nIdentify the growing and changing needs of users and how to enhance service delivery; \n\n\nAlign the objectives with the goals of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (UNDOS\, 2021-2030).

SUMMARY:GO-BGC Float Data and Science Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Registration is now open for a BGC Float Data and Science workshop\, hosted by the Global Ocean Biogeochemistry Array (GO-BGC) program!! The workshop will take place on August 17-21\, 2026 at the University of Washington\, Seattle\, USA.  \nThe workshop will be a Hack-a-thon type workshop\, where small groups will pursue a scientific question/objective using BGC-Argo data. This workshop will include a combination of an overview of BGC-Argo and the GO-BGC program\, lectures\, working (coding) with float data with your group\, and  a tour of the float lab at UW. Participants are expected to have programming experience\, but familiarity with BGC-Argo data is not required. We encourage applications from a variety of disciplines. \nIf you are interested in participating\, please fill out this form. Registration will be open until the end of April. Acceptance letters to the workshop will be sent out in early June.
