The final Argo float of P02 Leg 1 – EYES – has been successfully deployed! And what an exciting launch it was. Before we could deploy the float, the captain had to reposition our ship to avoid a gigantic container ship (~700 ft. long) heading straight at us. Once we were safely relocated, EYES made a peaceful entrance into North Pacific waters during a gorgeous sunrise. We had a lot of fun decorating this float with all kinds of eyes, the mascot of the adopting grades 7 & 8 of Valley View Junior High in Farmersville, OH.
That’s a wrap for P02 Leg 1 Argo float deployments. We’re sending a big thank you to everyone who has made our ten float launches possible – the BGC-Argo team, our on-board decorators and cheerleaders, the classrooms and schools that have adopted a float, and you, the reader, for following along. Be sure to check this blog for updates on the four floats that will be deployed during the second leg of this cruise, from June to July 2022. Over and out!
