GO-SHIP P02: Hello from Leg 2

Back at work as we launch the first GO-BGC float of Leg 2

20 Jun 2022

Today our watchstanders Alyssa and Turner deployed Mysterious Blue, the BGC float adopted by the Tuskawilla Middle School from Seminole County, Florida. Mysterious Blue, festooned with drawings of the Tuskawilla mascot, the golden eagle, a subset over the ocean, and a diagram of the marine water cycle, departed from the back deck of the R/V Roger Revelle at 10pm local time at 30 degrees N, 158 degrees 54.21 minutes W.
Mysterious Blue will travel up and down following currents in the Pacific, all the while recording temperature, salinity, nitrogen, and oxygen levels.
Check out the images below (and this video link) to see our ResTech Mason Schettig and CTD watchstanders Alyssa Schultz and Turner Johnson deploying Mysterious Blue. With the help of this float we hope to uncover mysteries of the deep blue ocean!
