Why My Buddy Eric? Marine Biology teacher Amber Lancaster describes the following.

My Buddy Eric is a common internet meme or joke. People often will comment on posts or videos of occurrences claiming that their buddy, Eric, also did that or was part of the video in some way. A pretty common example of this is a video game clip where someone pulls off something really, really impressive. Viewers comment “oh my buddy eric pulled that off the other day,” but of course that’s not true. It’s completely sarcastic and satire and I adore the joke so much because of how spontaneous and innocent it is.
