Science doesn’t take any holidays at sea

At 1340 UTC (coordinated Universal Time) on April 4th, 2021, the sixth float of the newly NSF funded GO-BGC Array program was launched over the side after CTD Station #52. Huge thanks to the support of the US-GOSHIP program and the researchers onboard the A20 Expedition.

MMHS Nemer was named by the Mica Mountain High School in Tucson, AZ. The reasoning for the name:

MMHS is for Mica Mountain High School and Mr. Nemer Hassey is the principal of this new school. A sister float launched in the Southern Ocean is CHS-Nemer at Cienega High School. We are so excited to make this a reality! We want to use data to drive our curriculum and not make up data or use random things. Having annual data that is directly applicable to our classes (Biology, Chemistry, and in the future, hopefully Marine Science) is the goal!

Elizabeth Ricci was the shipboard technician in charge of this launch and the float decorations are from Elena Perez!
