Swag Exchange

One way to share memories of an expedition.

Today was swag swap day aboard R/V Atlantis! The ship store was open and it had the biggest array of branded gear I’ve ever seen aboard a research vessel. There are Atlantis shirts, of course—a standard. But in this case there are like 7 designs: long-sleeved, pull-over hoodies, and zip-up hoodies. There are hats, stickers, mugs, and other basics. But also kid’s books, keychains, socks, and even a cookbook. So great! T-shirt sales usually go to the crew morale fund, which is a very worthy cause! So I got my gear and handed out some free swag I brought onboard as well. As a small thank you to the crew and marine techs who helped make my trip so lovely and all our science deployments run smoothly, I brought along SIO stickers and LEGO float kits, which were a big hit. The NOAA folks even sent Argo temporary tattoos, which can now be seen on multiple people onboard. Hopefully the fine folks of the Atlantis will welcome us back for more GO-BGC deployments in the future. I would love to come back!
